The most Tony-nominated play in theatre history is an intimate fly-on-the-wall look at the agony and the ecstasy of music creation. Set in a recording studio during the 1970s, Stereophonic eavesdrops on an up-and-coming rock band on the cusp of superstardom.

As the pressure of expectation builds the studio turns into a battleground of competing egos, and the friends' relationships are tested to their limit. Will the album prove to be their big breakthrough, or will the powder keg atmosphere spark the band's break-up before they've even begun?

Multi award-winning run on Broadway

Stereophonic was the most Tony-nominated play in history during its Broadway run, picking up five wins from thirteen including 'Best Play', 'Best Direction', 'Best Sound Design' and 'Best Scenic Design'. Critics compared the story of the fictional band to Fleetwood Mac's well-documented travails during the recording of Rumours.

Songwriter Will Butler from indie rock band Arcade Fire has himself won a Grammy and two BRITs, and the playwright David Adjmi has a Tony, a Drama Desk Award, a New York Drama Critics' Circle Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award.

What the theatre critics say...

New York Times: "A staggeringly, ingeniously, entertaining achievement"; Time Out: "Book in early because Stereophonic is liable to be a sellout smash";
