Peak and off-peak journey times
For Oyster and contactless off-peak is outside the hours of 6.30 AM-9.30 AM and 4 PM-7 PM (Mon-Fri). For travelcards off-peak is any time after 9.30 AM (Mon-Fri). Weekends and public holidays are always classed as off-peak. Note: Between the 8th March and 31st May 2024 TFL are running a trial called ‘Off-Peak Friday Fares’, where Fridays will be classed as off-peak all day.
The train fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter what time your journey ends.

Station entrance – The Villiers Street entrance and the booking hall are on the level, but you must use one flight of 4 stairs from the Victoria Embankment entrance. After that there are two flights of stairs to the Circle/District line platforms (2x15 steps down to the eastbound platform, or 16 steps down +14 steps down to the westbound platform), or two escalators plus three flights of stairs to the Bakerloo line platforms (6 steps down +19 steps down to the southbound platform, or 6 steps down +20 steps down to the northbound platform), or two escalators plus one flight of stairs to the Northern line platforms (6 steps down)
Station exit – There are two flights of stairs from the Circle/District line platforms to the booking hall (2x15 steps up from the eastbound platform, or 16 steps up +14 steps up from the westbound platform), or two escalators plus three flights of stairs from the Bakerloo line platforms (6 steps up +19 steps up from the southbound platform, or 6 steps up +20 steps up from the northbound platform), or two escalators plus one flight of stairs from the Northern line platforms (6 steps up). Staff The stations are on different tube lines, so you can't go direct. Personally I would just walk it from Embankment, it's not far. You could have a nice 10-15 min walk through Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square.

Staff Hi Ali. You have to use the stairs from the district line platforms, you can’t use escalators. it’s all explained in the ‘platform stairs’ section above

I need to use the tube to Embankment station on the district line from Ealing Broadway and back, tomorrow. Can you reassure me that I won’t have to use any escalators at the embankment station and when travelling to and from the station on the circle line ? Will I be able to use the stairs? Staff Hi Ali. It's definitely stairs to the Circle/District line platform at Embankment. If you were using the Bakerloo or Northern line then that would be different, because that would be escalators plus stairs.

sarah I need to get to monument station from Hendon Central, so plan to get the northern line to embankment then circle /district to monument. I am travelling with someone who cannot really do stairs - please can you advise me what the station is like? do you have lifts to all platforms? do you have lift upto ticket hall entrance/exit of station?
Staff Hi Sarah, There are no lifts, you will have to use escalators plus a couple of flights of stairs, you cant avoid the stairs.
