The evening's entertainment will include a science show and animal handling workshop, followed by a pub quiz, some stand-up comedy, and a late-night movie marathon.

You'll also have a chance to explore some of the museum's galleries after all the tourists have gone home, and book yourself onto two guided tours (£15+). One of the tours will go behind-the-scenes of their Spirit Collection, whilst the other changes every night.

Three course dinner and drinks

Complimentary tea and coffee will be served between 9 AM and 2.30 AM. The bars will serve drinks and nibbles until 00.45 AM. You'll also be treated to a three-course dinner in the restaurant (pre-allocated seating).

The highlight of the night will be when you settle down for a sleep in the Hintze Hall under the floating bones of a giant Blue Whale.

If you want to make your night that extra bit special then you can upgrade to Camp Sequoia. This will get you a camp bed around the upper balconies of the Hintz Hall. You'll also get a goodie bag and be fast-tracked through the queues.

Cooked breakfast in the morning

Assuming you manage to survive the night you'll be woken up for a delicious cooked breakfast and more complimentary tea and coffee between 7 AM and 9.30 AM. You'll then get a little bit of free time to explore the museum before it opens up to the public.

Frequently asked questions

Adults must be aged over 18 and show proof of age. The event is not suitable for hen or stag parties.

Everybody needs to bring their own sleeping bag, toothbrush and clothes to sleep in (they recommend arriving in the same clothes you want to sleep in as the cloakroom will be closed). Some people choose to bring a pillow, ear plugs and an eye mask as well, as some of the lights will remain on throughout the night.

Everybody will be provided with a thin foam sleeping mat to place their sleeping bag on. If you upgrade to Camp Sequoia then you can place it on a tubular camp bed instead. Be aware that inflatable mats and mattresses over five centimetres thick are not allowed.

Visitors will be able to use the bathrooms to change and clean their teeth, but there are no shower facilities. And be aware that visitors will not be allowed to use any of the museum's plug sockets, so you might want to bring a portable power bank to charge your phone.
