If you want to avoid the lift then you can use three flights of stairs (9 steps down +12 steps down +11 steps down to the Central line, or 9 steps down +3 steps down +2x11 steps down to District platforms 7&8, or 9 steps down +3 steps down +8 steps down +11 steps down to District platform 9)

Mansion House exit – You must two flights of stairs from the westbound platform to the booking hall (17 steps up +6 steps up), or three flights from the eastbound platform (12 steps up +11 steps up +21 steps up).
