The Wallace Collection will be celebrating Grayson Perry's 65th birthday with the largest contemporary exhibition ever held at the museum. Perry has even created a fictional persona for the show - Shirley Smith - who suffers a mental health crisis and wakes up believing she's heir to the entire collection.
Delusions Of Grandeur will explore the nature of craft-making in the modern world, comparing objects that would have taken maybe thousands of hours to complete against one that was created with the simple click of a button. By contrasting these two different approaches, Perry will ask questions about authenticity, and the artists' role going forwards.

On display will be over 40 new works including intricately handcrafted ceramics, collages, tapestries and thought-provoking prints. They will be shown alongside masterpieces from the museum's own collection that helped to shape the Turner Prize-winning artist's ideas for the show.
Perry has credited the museum as being a major inspiration during their childhood and time as a young artist, thanks to its contrasting exhibits of feminine fashions from the 18th-century and its masculine weapons and suits of armour.
