The Design Museum is putting on an exhibition that explores the ways in which design might better help our planet by shifting its focus away from our human needs, and towards the billions of animals, plants and other living beings that call Earth home.

By combining art, architecture, science, technology and radical thinking, the exhibition will offer visitors a brand-new perspective - one that might be crucial in allowing our planet to thrive.

It will showcase over 140 works from a new generation of designers who are part of the 'more-than-human' movement, who embrace the idea that human activities can only flourish in conjunction with other species and ecosystems. Their aim is to relearn design so it becomes a better fit with the natural world in the midst of its climate emergency.

The exhibition will feature the work of 50 different artists, architects and designers who are skilled in the practices of fine art, architecture, interactive installations and product design. Highlights include Artworks For Octopuses by Japanese artist Shimabuku, and a monumental seaweed installation by Julia Lohmann. There will also be a tapestry from the perspective of the pollinators, and a huge 8-metre mural to highlight the need for legal rights for waterways.
