Brian Cox from TV's Succession will be starring in Oliver Cotton's new play The Score, directed by Trevor Nunn.
He'll be taking on the role of composer Johann Sebastian Bach, who has been summoned to the court of Europe's most tyrannical ruler, Frederick II.
The two men are as different as different can be. Frederick is an atheist, while Bach is deeply religious. Frederick revels in war and reads military history, wheras Bach loathes it and studies scripture. Nevertheless, Frederick admires Bach's genius as a composer and sets him a musical conundrum that he hopes will baffle and embarass him in front of the court.
What happens next could not have been predicted by either man, and will change them both forever.
Starring Brian Cox as JS Bach
Best-known for his Emmy nominated role in HBO's hit series Succession, Brian Cox has won plaudits for his TV, film and theatre work, picking up a Golden Globe, two BAFTAs, two Olivier Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards during his glittering sixty year career.
