The beautiful St. Mary-le-Strand stands opposite Somerset House and is known as the 'Jewel in the Strand'. It was once surrounded by traffic but the area has recently been pedestrianised and turned into a peaceful sanctuary of gardens, trees and pavement cafes.
Classical music programme
The music will be performed by the renowed concert pianists Warren Mailley-Smith, Christina Lawrie, Viv McLean and Maiko Mori.
4th April, 29th June and 11th July with pianist Warren Mailley-Smith - Rachmaninov's Prelude in C# minor Op.3 No.2, Brahms' Intermezzo in A Op.118 No.2, Grieg's Wedding Day at Troldhaugen Op.65 No.6, Mendelssohn's Fantasy Op.28, Chopin's Nocturne in E flat Op.9 No.2, Debussy's Clair de lune and Beethoven's Sonata in C Sharp Minor 'Moonlight'.
2nd May with pianist Christina Lawrie - Beethoven's Sonata in C Sharp Minor 'Moonlight', Rage over a lost penny, Debussy's Clair de Lune, Liszt's Liebestraume, Granados' The Maiden and the Nightingale, Grieg's Wedding Day at Troldhaugen and Chopin's Ballade No.1.
16th May with pianist Viv McLean - Bach-Busoni's Chorale Prelude 'Ich ruf zu dir herr Jesu Christ', Beethoven's Sonata in C Sharp Minor 'Moonlight', Chopin's Nocturne in E Flat Op.9 No.2, Prelude in C Sharp Minor Op.45, Ballade in A Flat Op.47 and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
