Using pieces from the V&A and the Courtauld's own collection, the Medieval Multiplied exhibition explores how different reproduction techniques have shaped artworks since the 19th-century.

By taking a beautiful ivory carving - like French knights attacking a castle - and displaying it alongside reproductions of the same piece, the viewer is able to compare the technologies side-by-side.

The exhibition will feature everything from simple photographs to plaster casts, engravings and modern 3D prints, and ask whether they can reveal hidden features of the original, and how they can make otherwise inaccessible objects available for study.
