The Courtauld Gallery will be putting on an exhibition of work by Claude Monet, one of the leading figures of French Impressionism.
Some of Monet's most remarkable paintings were made not in France but right here in London, and were painted during his three visits to the capital between 1899 and 1901.
Around 100 views were mainly painted at the Savoy Hotel and captured atmospheric images of Waterloo Bridge, Charing Cross Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.
He planned to show the collection in a London exhibition but his plans fell through and to this day the paintings have never been the subject of their own UK show... until now.
It's taken 120 years, but Monet and London will finally realise his unfulfilled ambition and provide visitors with an opportunity of seeing the show that might have been... presenting the same works that he himself selected for a later exhibition in Paris.
What the critics say...
The Times: ★★★★★ "Monet knocks your socks off"; The Independent: ★★★★★ "An extraordinary feat"; The Telegraph: ★★★★★ "Outstanding"; The I: ★★★★★ "This will never happen again - don't miss it"
