East India station entrance – From the Aspen Way entrance to the platforms there’s a lift (or three flights of 14 steps up), plus another lift (or an escalator, or two flights of 14 and 16 steps down). From the South Side entrance to the platforms there are two lifts (or four flights of 15 and 16 steps up, and 14 and 16 steps down)

Changing tube line at Shadwell – You must use stairs when changing between the DLR and London Overground platforms

Changing tube line at Bank – Changing between the Central and DLR platforms involves a lift plus escalator. Changing between the W&C line and any other platform involves a lift, an escalator plus a long travelator. You must use stairs when changing trains from the Northern line to any other platform

Moorgate station exit – You must use an escalator plus one flight of stairs from the Northern line platforms to the booking hall (20 steps up), or five flights of stairs from the westbound Circle/​H&C /​Metropolitan platforms (10 steps down +9 steps down +8 steps down +14 steps up +17 steps up), but the eastbound Circle eastbound/​H&C/​Metropolitan platforms are on the level. If you came from the Moorfields westside entrance then you will have an extra three flights of stairs to the platforms (7 steps down +16 steps down +7 steps down). After that you will have another three flights of stairs to the exits (7 steps up +16 steps up +7 steps up to Moorfields westside, or 8 steps up +9 steps up +8 steps up to Moorfields eastside and Moorgate westside, or 10 steps up +6 steps up +13 steps up to Moorgate eastside)

This tube journey is in Oyster zones 1-2. The cheapest fare is £2.80 off-peak (£3.40 peak) when you pay by Oyster or contactless. There’s no return fare, you just pay the same as two single tickets

Peak and off-peak journey times

For Oyster and contactless off-peak is outside the hours of 6.30 AM-9.30 AM and 4 PM-7 PM (Mon-Fri). For travelcards it’s any time after 9.30 AM (Mon-Fri). Weekends are always classed as off-peak. Note: Between the 8th March and 31st May 2024 TFL are running a trial called ‘Off-Peak Friday Fares’, where Fridays will be classed as off-peak all day.

The fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter what time your journey ends.
