The Fabulist is a brand-new musical inspired by Giovanni Paisello's 18th-century opera The Imaginary Astrologer.

The original opera was written for Catherine the Great and became one of her personal favourites, but James Farwell has re-written it as a romantic comedy and shifted the action to a 1920s movie studio in Tuscany.

It follows the story of a wandering fabulist Agrofontido - a talented magician who becomes smitten with the eccentric screenwriter Clarice.

All he wants to do is to ask her hand in marriage, but their romance gets complicated in a hurry.
