It follows the adventures of the handsome hero Richard Hannay, who finds himself embroiled in a series of dastardly murders with double-crossing secret agents and devastatingly beautiful women... all whilst trying to maintain a perfect pencil moustache and British stiff-upper-lip.

Alfred Hitchcock... with a comedy twist!

Legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock took John Buchanan's book and turned The 39 Steps into an award-winning movie starring Robert Donat and Madeline Carroll.

Patrick Barlow then gave it a comedy twist and made it into a stage play, picking up an Olivier Award for 'Best Comedy' and two Tony Awards on Broadway.
