Henry Moore exhibition: Shadows on the Wall

This event has already passed

The Courtauld Gallery will be putting on an exhibition that focuses on Henry Moore's celebrated Shelter drawings.

Moore drew pictures from the safety of the London Underground as he sheltered from the bomb raids above, but the shelter's walls began to absorb his attention in a surprising way, becoming key components in his drawings. He seemed to be fascinated by the bricks and the texture, mass and volume of the walls.

Shadows on the Wall reveals that the walls in his drawings might offer a new way to understand some of his monumental post-war sculpture projects.
