This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by the Duke of Marlborough in the 1700s and named after his most famous military victory. Nowadays its best-known as the birthplace of his family ancester, Sir Winston Churchill.

You'll have 2 hours to enjoy its Baroque architecture and listen to an audio tour of its opulent State Rooms which contain the magnificent 'Victories' series of tapestries that celebrate the Duke's victory over the Sun King, Louis XIV.

You'll also want to spend some time admiring its beautifully landscaped grounds and its famous water garden.

After re-boarding the coach you'll enjoy a drive through the rolling green hills of the English countryside, past the little thatched cottages and stone-built market towns, to the picturesque village of Bibury (or) Bourton-on-the-Water.

The hamlet of Bibury is famous for its weavers' cottages and the 12th-century St. Mary's Church, whereas Bourton-on-the-Water is admired for its little lanes, quant shops, and its gently-flowing river and attractive stone bridges.

You'll then move on to the small medieval town of Burford - known as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds' - nestled on the River Windrush in the Cotswold Hills.

Bampton - The village from Downton Abbey

Your day will end with a trip to Bampton, which you'll recognise as the pretty little village in Downton Abbey. Note: The tour does not include a visit to Downton Abbey itself (Highclere Castle).

Fans of the show will recognise two of its fictional pubs - The Grantham Arms and Dog & Duck - the local church where members of the family got married, the Downton Cottage Hospital which became a battleground between Lady Crawley, Isobel Crawley and the Dowager, and Isobel Crawley's own home which she once shared with Matthew.

You'll have time to walk around the town and even stop for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants or cafes.
