Starting by the Boadicea statue on Westminster Bridge, this interesting walk will take you past the sites most associated with Winston Churchill during World War II.
Stopping outside the Houses of Parliament, your guide will explain how the British Government reacted to the looming threat of Nazi Germany and how Big Ben was silenced as the Luftwaffe flew overhead.
You'll walk around Parliament Square to see Churchill's statue, and then discover how Westminster Abbey managed to survive the Blitz.
As you walk down Whitehall past Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence, your guide will be using atmospheric old photos and eyewitness accounts to transport you back in time to the country's darkest hour, and recall memories of Londoners' famous Blitz spirit.
You'll then pause by The Cenotaph and the 'Women In WW2' monuments to pay your respects to the men and women who laid down their lives for our freedom, and stop outside the sentry boxes at Horse Guards to grab a selfie with the mounted cavalry, before walking through the central arch into the parade ground.
Your guide will then share some of the stories about the complex of corridors and underground offices that still exist beneath the parade ground, and point out the reinforced Citadel that was built above it to defend the area from German paratroopers.
The tour will end at the entrance to the Churchill War Rooms on the corner of St. James's Park.
Note: Entry into the Churchill War Rooms is not included in the tour, but military enthusiasts might like to continue their day by visiting the Churchill Museum inside.
