If you enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn to do a bit of yoga then here's a unique treat that you might enjoy: the Natural History Museum is putting on some early-morning classes before it opens up to the public, right underneath the giant skeleton of a blue whale that's hanging from the ceiling of the Hintz Hall.
The invigorating session will encourage you to find your zen by tuning into your own breathing and energising your body through a series of ancient yogic movements. You'll then get to enjoy the serene vibrations of a live gong bath.
When the session ends you'll have exclusive access to the gallery's Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, the Birds Gallery, and the Fossil Marine Reptiles Gallery, while they're still closed to the public.
Who is the class suitable for?
The class is open to anyone aged 16 and above, and is suitable for all experience levels, from beginner to expert.
What do you need to bring?
Yoga mats are not provided, so you'll have to bring your own. They also recommend that you bring a reusable water bottle. And bear in mind that the cloakroom will be closed at this time of the morning, so they advise you to travel light.
How’s this for an escalator... it goes up through the core of a pulsating pronto-planet. It would be great if they upped the heat so you came out drenched in sweat with water pouring down your forehead, but alas, your journey through the centre of the earth is over pretty quick pic.twitter.com/IYKMTidm74
