"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that anyone in possession of wit and good taste must be in want of great entertainment..." so said Jane Austen, and so it has come to pass.
Some of the country's finest comics will conjure up a 'lost' Jane Austen novel before your very eyes, based on nothing more than a title suggested by the audience.
Improvised script from start to finish
The comedy ensemble will ad-lib the entire show from start to finish, so no two shows will ever be the same. But you can probably expect a witty heroine to feature at some point, plus a dashing gent (or two) and swooning is absolutely guaranteed. (This is a Jane Austen novel, after all!)
There will also be plenty of corpsing, comic innuendos and miscommunications... all performed in period costume with a smattering of live music to accompany the chaos.
Previous 'lost' masterpieces have included Mansfield Shark, The Sixth Sense and Sensibility and Double 0 Darcy, but it really doesn't matter whether you're familiar with any of Austen's works or not, because it promises to be a hilarious night for all.
What the theatre critics say...
The Times: ★★★★★ "Ridiculously silly... wickedly funny"; The Guardian: ★★★★ "A joy to behold... The laughs seldom stop"; The Telegraph: ★★★★ "Brilliant, barmy improv"; Evening Standard: ★★★★ "Sheer unbridled silliness"
