Peak and off-peak journey times

Weekends and public holidays are always classed as off-peak. Note: Between the 8th March and 31st May 2024 TFL are running a trial called ‘Off-Peak Friday Fares’, where Fridays will be classed as off-peak all day.
The underground fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter what time your journey ends.

Your comments and questions
Rachel Hi we are travelling from Richmond to Custom House with a child. Would it be cheaper to get the tube from Richmond to Westminster, or the train from Richmond to Waterloo and then change on to the jubilee line.
Staff Hi Rachel. You'll pay the same fare either way. It doesn't matter if you catch the tube the whole way, or only part of the way, it will still be zones 1-4
Michelle If I arrive at platform 2 at 06:45 do I have enough time to get the 06:49 underground to Sloane Square
Staff Hi Michelle. the district line is just a couple of platforms along from platform 2, so if the train arrives bang on time then its just about doable. you could probably do it in 2 minutes.
Lily What line o need to take to go to Tower of London
Staff Hi Lily. Just get the district line all the way to Tower Hill, which is literally just over the road - londondrum.com/transport/train-journey.php?from=richmond&to=tower-hill
John Blair Are there any delays on the central line next weekend
Staff They have some scheduled works in mid-June, but nothing next week
Maxine Hi could you tell me if I would be able to get the tube from Richmond to South Kensington on Sunday 4/6 straight through or is there a disruption from Richmond to Gunnersbury station, and return in evening.
Staff Hi Maxine. it looks like there are some planned engineering works between richmond and earls court on the 4th - content.tfl.gov.uk/planned-track-closures.pdf
Ian Hi, I need to get from Richmond to London City Airport. Is it cheaper to take the underground from Richmond all the way changing at Westminster and DLR, or overground from Richmond to Waterloo then the underground. Also is it cheaper to pay cash or contactless? Thank you
Staff Hi Ian. You pay for the zones you travel through, rather than the trains you travel on. so it doesn't matter which of those routes you choose, they're both the same price. contactless fares are cheaper than cash. The price for zones 1-4 is shown in the table above
Lou Is access to the Tube platform at Richmond at ground level or is a lift required to get from ground to the platform. Thanks
Staff Hi Lou. The platforms aren't underground but you do have to use stairs or a lift to reach them (the booking hall is higher than the track)
