Aldgate East entrance – You must use four flights of stairs between the Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street entrances and the platforms (2x13 steps +9 steps down +13 steps down), or five flights of stairs between the Leman Street entrance and the platforms (16 steps down +6 steps down +4 steps down +9 steps down +13 steps down)
Changing trains at Liverpool Street – You can use a lift or escalator when changing between the Central line and National Rail platforms, or the Central line and the H&C eastbound platform. You can use a lift when changing between the H&C eastbound and National Rail platforms. But you must use stairs for all other platform changes
Holborn exit – You must use an escalator plus one flight of stairs from the platforms to the exit (19 steps up from the Central eastbound platform, or 20 steps up from the Central westbound/Piccadilly southbound platforms, or 22 steps up from the Piccadilly northbound platform)

Stairs, lifts and escalators
Holborn is not wheelchair accessible. Aldgate East is not wheelchair accessible
Holborn entrance – You must use an escalator plus one flight of stairs from the entrance to the platforms (19 steps down to the Central eastbound platform, or 20 steps down to the Central westbound/Piccadilly southbound platforms, or 22 steps down to the Piccadilly northbound platform)
Changing trains at Liverpool Street – You can use a lift or escalator when changing between the Central line and National Rail platforms, or the Central line and the H&C eastbound platform. You can use a lift when changing between the H&C eastbound and National Rail platforms. But you must use stairs for all other platform changes
Aldgate East exit – You must use four flights of stairs between the platforms and the Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street exits (13 steps up +9 steps up +2x13 steps up), or five flights of stairs between the platforms and the Leman Street exit (13 steps up +9 steps up +4 steps up +6 steps up +16 steps up)
Cash, Contactless, Oyster & Travelcard fares
The journey is in zone 1. The cheapest fare is £2.80 off-peak (£2.90 peak) when you pay by Oyster or contactless. There are no return tickets, you just pay the same as two singles

Peak and off-peak times
For Oyster and contactless off-peak is outside the hours of 6.30 AM-9.30 AM and 4 PM-7 PM (Mon-Fri). For travelcards it’s any time after 9.30 AM (Mon-Fri). Weekends are always classed as off-peak.
The fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter when it ends.
