Stairs, lifts and escalators

Aldgate East is not wheelchair accessible. Gallions Reach is wheelchair accessible, and has step-free access from the street to the train

Aldgate East entrance – You must use four flights of stairs between the Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street entrances and the platforms (2x13 steps +9 steps down +13 steps down), or five flights of stairs between the Leman Street entrance and the platforms (16 steps down +6 steps down +4 steps down +9 steps down +13 steps down)

Changing trains at West Ham – There’s are two lifts when changing between the DLR/​Jubilee/​H&C line platforms

Changing trains at Canning Town – You must use a lift when changing between the DLR/​Jubilee line platforms, apart from the Stratford, Beckton and Woolwich Arsenal branches of the DLR which have a lift plus escalator

Gallions Reach exit – There’s a lift between the platforms and the exit. If you want to avoid the lift then you can use three flights of stairs (12 stairs down +16 stairs down +12 stairs down)

Changing trains at Shadwell – You must use stairs when changing between the DLR and London Overground platforms

Changing trains at Whitechapel – You can use escalators from the Elizbeth line, and lifts from all the other platforms

Aldgate East exit – You must use four flights of stairs between the platforms and the Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street exits (13 steps up +9 steps up +2x13 steps up), or five flights of stairs between the platforms and the Leman Street exit (13 steps up +9 steps up +4 steps up +6 steps up +16 steps up)

Cash, Contactless, Oyster & Travelcard fares

The journey is in zones 1-3. The cheapest fare is £3.10 off-peak (£3.80 peak) when you pay by Oyster or contactless. There are no return tickets, you just pay the same as two singles
