Jonathan Miller's classic adaptation of Puccini's La Boheme is returning to the London Coliseum.
The romantic opera tells the story of the penniless poet Rodolfo and the seamstress Mimì, who fall madly in love with each other from the moment they meet.
They're both poor but their love sustains them... until Rodolfo discovers that Mimì is gravely ill and he can't afford the medicine to save her. With their relationship tested by illness and poverty he is faced with a terrible choice, and decides to leave her.
When they finally reunite it is already too late, and despite Rodolfo's constant care, Mimi dies.
Jonathan Miller's classic adaptation
Puccini's opera boasts one of his most exquisite scores that sweeps you up in its passionate arias and duets, as it explores the joy, anguish and heartbreak that comes with young love.
Jonathan Miller's re-imagining of the 19th-century setting sees the young lovers transported to bohemian Paris, with the sets and costumes inspired by Brassai's photos of 1930s France.
