The Tower of London can be a pretty spooky place whatever time of year you visit, but you can enjoy an especially eerie atmosphere over half-term when they dress it up for Halloween.
There'll be lots of spooky installations, sound effects and surprises all around the grounds (designed to spook, rather than terrify) creating an unforgettable day for the whole family. And with a thousand years of history within its walls, you're bound to encounter a few restless spirits or two.
As you walk around sites like Traitors' Gate and the Bloody Tower maybe you'll catch a glimpse of some of the poor prisoners who spent their final days inside the Tower... like one of Henry VIII's queens who lost her head on Tower Green, or the famous Elizabethan explorer Walter Raleigh.
Try walking walk past the White Tower where you'll find the decaying walls of a ruined garden, and the barred windows of a lost palace. Old Roman soldiers are believed to lurk around the remains of the city wall, and a wizard has been seen concocting potions in an apothecary!
The ghosts will be haunting the grounds between 10 AM and 4.30 PM each day, and your kids can pick up a trail map by the entrance so they can keep track of every one they spot.
