Take a trip to England's south-eastern coast and visit three of its most famous landmarks - Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle and the iconic White Cliffs.

After boarding your air-conditioned coach in central London your day will begin with a drive through the scenic Kent countryside to the ancient town of Canterbury.

Visit Canterbury Cathedral

Upon arrival your friendly guide will take you on a walk past the old Roman walls and pretty timber-beamed shops and houses to the Cathedral.

You'll then be given 3 hours of free time to enter the UNESCO World Heritage Site and see the exact spot where Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered by Henry II's knights in 1170 - famously depicted in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales.

You can spend the rest of your free time in Canterbury as you choose, maybe having a bite to eat in one of the quant little cafes, visiting the Canterbury Heritage Museum, or walking around town to see the old city walls.

Walk along the top of the White Cliffs of Dover

At approximately 1.30 PM you'll jump back onboard the coach for the journey to Dover, where you'll stop for a walk along the top of the famous White Cliffs. (If the weather is too wet and windy then you'll see the cliffs from the beach below instead.)

Visit the medieval Dover Castle

You'll then be given another 2½ hours to walk around the largest castle in the country, who's strategic position overlooking the narrow Channel made it one of England's most important fortresses.

Dover Castle has been defending us against mainland Europe since the days of William the Conqueror, and its extensive fortifications meant that it has never been conquered, despite numerous brutal sieges.

You'll have plenty of time to explore its Roman lighthouse, Saxon church and the Court of Henry II, and then visit the audio-visual presentation inside the old underground tunnels from which they planned World War II's Dunkirk evacuation.
