Walk in the footsteps of England's most famous playwright with this full-day tour to William Shakespeare's birthplace.
Your day will begin with an early morning start in Victoria where you'll meet your guide and board a luxury air-conditioned coach. You'll then head out of London towards the pretty villages and countryside of the Cotswolds.
William Shakespeare's Tudor house
As you drive towards Stratford-upon-Avon your guide will share some of the history of the medieval town and describe what life was like in Elizabethan times.
You'll be given some time to admire the Tudor houses down the High Street, Chapel Street and Church Street before entering the half-timbered house where Shakespeare once lived.
Its full of creaky old floorboards and crooked roof beams and the highlight is the actual room where the bard was born. You can also visit the pretty little garden out the back where Shakespearean actors perform some of his best-known sonnets and scenes.
Anne Hathaway's Cottage
You'll then re-board the coach for the short drive to Anne Hathaway's Cottage - the chocolate box cottage where Shakespeare courted his wife.
The beautiful thatched farmhouse still looks as it did hundreds of years ago, with Anne Hathaway's original bed, low-slung ceilings and floorboards that creak and speak as you walk across them. The rooms are filled with rickety old rocking chairs and kitchen cupboards with black pans and soot-stained pots - it's a period piece that's been lifted out of time.
Bibury, Burford & Bourton-on-the-Water
After that you'll go for a drive through the rolling green hills and picturesque pastures of the Cotswolds, past thatched-roof cottages and the spires of ancient churches, soaking up the gorgeous views of the English countryside.
After stopping to stretch your legs in the 17th-century hamlet of Bibury - once described by William Morris as "the most beautiful village in England" thanks to its cottages and 12th-century church - you'll continue on to the medieval town of Burford.
After passing through the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds' you'll stop again at Bourton-on-the-Water - nicknamed Little Venice thanks to its low stone bridges and gently-flowing river. You'll then be given a little bit of free-time to explore its narrow lanes and quant shops before the ride back to London.
