The Wallace Collection is putting on a free display that brings together five timepieces by André-Charles Boulle - the famous cabinetmaker who worked in the court of the Sun King, Louis XIV.
The display will explore the art and science of timekeeping by showing how Boulle took advantage of the latest discoveries to create his unique designs, making use of artists and craftspeople from all over 18th-century Paris.
Boulle's designs spread all over the world, and an accompanying display in the Billiard Room will highlight two magnificent artworks - The Dance to the Music of Time by Nicolas Poussin and The Borghese Dancers by Henri Perlan and François Anguier - to show how many of his contemporaries ended up using the concept of time in their own work.
